New: Souvignier gris

We are pleased to introduce a brand-new, particularly elegant white wine: Souvignier gris.

This robust variety originally comes from Germany, but has been increasingly cultivated in Switzerland in recent years.
Four years ago, we planted approximately 1,000 new Souvignier gris seedlings in Varen, replacing old Pinot Noir vines, and since then, we have been striving to expertly cultivate the young vines. The first, small harvest took place in the fall of 2023.

From the pink-red Souvignier gris grapes, we produce a fresh, fruity white wine with surprisingly mineral aromas after six months of aging in a new type of ceramic sphere (Clayver).
The wine becomes richer and more complex through aging in the sphere and the associated exposure to air. In addition, the aromas are more intense than with "normal" aging in steel tanks, and the wine appears more rounded.

This time, the label of the new wine is adorned with a magnificent praying mantis, drawn by 14-year-old Lena Baumann. Lena adapted the style of our other label designs, designed by Sonja Geoffray-Baumann.

We believe the result is very successful and fits perfectly into our Piwi range, both in terms of appearance and content.
We are excited to see how our customers respond to this new addition and look forward to receiving as much feedback as possible on our latest creation.
