Mennas - our own grape variety
Mennas - a unique white wine experience
about us
We cultivate almost four hectares of vines, spread across various plots from the Vispertal Valley to Varen, and use the grapes to produce not only traditional Valais varieties but also rare and unique wines.
The winery in Turtmann is ideally located for this purpose; within a radius of just 30 kilometers to the east lie the famous vineyards of Visperterminen and to the west, the sunny slopes of Varen.
As winegrowers, we work in and with nature all year round. Sustainability in dealing with flora and fauna is therefore our top priority.
Our plots are cultivated according to the guidelines of Integrated Production (IP) and the regulations of Vitival. All our vineyards are grass-covered, and we do not use herbicides. We treat our traditional vines only with organic methods.
What began in 1998 with a lot of hard work, a generous portion of courage, and four small wine barrels has grown into a substantial enterprise.
Since September 2019, brothers Diego and Roman have been the second generation to lead the company. They are actively supported on-site by Nina Baumann-Salzmann and Jenny Zuber. Sonja Geoffray-Baumann provides advice on oenological matters. She also designed most of our label designs.
Hans-Peter & Irene Baumann have – after twenty intensive years of development – entered their well-deserved retirement and are now taking things a little easier, but they remain indispensable to the family business.
