What began in 1998 required a great deal of courage, a strong work ethic, and four small wine barrels. Now established, brothers Diego and Roman, the second generation, manage the winery with skill and expertise. It now covers four hectares and also has a vine that grows exclusively on the estate's vineyards, a true rarity. Vineyards between Vispertal and Varen form the basis, with traditional Valais grapes, but also varieties that aren't found everywhere. Like their own Mennas, a cross between Gewürztraminer and Gwäss, an old Valais variety. The Baumann family cultivates their vineyards in a natural way and relies on fungus-resistant grape varieties (Piwis) to ensure sustainable use of the environment. Therefore, the rows of vines are green-covered, and weed killers and chemicals are completely avoided. They rightly see themselves as a driving force in the Valais when it comes to Piwis. Eppis Güots us dum Valais, after all.
